Little Bits of This & That

Wip Wednesday....

I know it's been a long while since I have blogged. I always wish I was better at blogging but then life seems to get in the way and I put it off. Well, I am going to try to do more of it...even if it's just quick posts to let you know what is going on in my little corner of the world and since it's Wednesday I want to share with you my current WIP. (Work in progress.)

We have had a VERY long winter here this year and spring is coming...I know it is but it can't come fast enough this year for me. So I have been working with fun little projects in bright springy colors to keep my mind off the snow that keeps falling.

Here is my current WIP......I found this super cute pattern and knew I had to give it a try!

I am lovin the fresh colors! And I LOVE my new crochet hook! (I found it here.)

I have been having some fun making coasters too.

I whipped up this set for a good friend...

And this one I am pondering selling on Etsy...because I only need so many right?

W.I.P. time.....

Last summer I knit up a cute yellow sweater. I just love it but there are three parts of it that I need to fix. I learned a new cast off that gives a much better, stretchy ribbing....something that will hold it's shape but stretch when needed. So I am going to fix both cuffs and the bottom edge.

I started by picking up the stitches around one cuff~

I then cut off the casted off edge and started to pull out the stitches~

I got the stitches back on the needles~

And now I am on my way. I think I am going to make the 3/4 sleeves into full length and add 2 or 3 inches to the bottom edge too. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

I also have to share with you a project that I casted on this morning. I have a good friend who is receiving a new grandbaby in a few weeks so I grabbed this book that has some really great projects in it~

I wanted something quick but cute so I picked these booties~

I wound up some cream Cascade sport and casted on...I think it's going pretty well~

I thought cream would be a good color with spring right around the corner and would go with just about any cute little outfit she will be wearing. Now to get them done in time....what are you working on?

W.I.P. Wednesday....

It's Wednesday, and I want to share my lastest W.I.P. (work in progress) with you. I LOVE the Union Jack block so I thought I should make a quilt of it, a quilt just for me, one I don't have to share, one I get to use when I want to snuggle on the couch. 

I picked some bright, springy fabrics from Moda and set off chopping up the fabric. I wanted it to look just like the Union Jack Flag which has different width white strips...something I really hadn't noticed until I wanted to make this quilt.

So I chopped and sewed, chopped, sewed and chopped more. I had to trim the blocks down and they ended up alittle more square than I wanted but I love the look anyways. Now I just need to quilt it. I am thinking of using a Minky fabric for the back. Have you used Minky before?

    

I think I may need a pillow to go with and when I make the pillow I will take down the measurements and try to take some pictures to show you how I did it.
