Hello all my sewing friends! It's already week three and I'm excited that you are joining me in the Winter Wonderland Sew along, also called #verysherrichristmas. Are you ready for two more blocks? Today we are going to be working on the Wreath and Stocking blocks for the Sleighbell Sampler quilt.
If you are just joining me you can find the Fabric Requirements here. First up is the Wreath block. Our featured blogger who is joining us for this block is Spun Sugar Quilts. Be sure to pop over there and check out their block!
Now on to the Wreath block....I am just loving this block but then I am in love with them all.
Turn to page 79 in your book. If you need one, you can find it HERE.
Cut out and label all the pieces you need. Have I told you about the fun little Alphabitties I use to mark my pieces?
I really like how they keep my pieces organized so I can sew right along and not have to re-measure my pieces to make sure I am using the right ones.
Now that we are all cut and ready, let's start with diagonally sewing D unit to G unit. Sew up eight of them.
Repeat with the other side. Sew up eight of the holly block.
Stitch C unit to the holly block. Sew four of them.
Sew B unit to Holly block. Make 4 of them again.
Now for some berries....sew three F and three H units together.
Now stitch the berry unit together with E unit and make four of them.
Stitch holly block together with berry unit. Make four of them.
Stitch units together with A unit to form Wreath block.
And we are done!
Next up is the Stocking block! Stop over at The Modern Handcraft Blog and see their Stocking block. It's always fun for me to see the fabric choices that people make for their blocks and making it their own way.
Now turn to page 80 and cut out all the needed units for this cutie.
We are starting with the little star. Make one half square triangle with F square and L square.
Diagonally stitch F square to K rectangle. Make one.
Diagonally stitch D square to L rectangle. Make one.
Stitch all these units together with D rectangle and B rectangle to start forming the star.
Diagonally stitch L square to corner of A rectangle.
Diagonally stitch I square to all corners of J rectangle.
Stitch units together with D rectangle.
Diagonally stitch Q square to both lower corners of T square. Make one.
Diagonally stitch V square to both ends of O rectangle. Make one.
Diagonally stitch V square to corner of P rectangle. Make one.
Diagonally stitch W square to other corner of P rectangle. Make one.
Diagonally stitch Q square to top corner of U rectangle. Make one.
Diagonally stitch R square to other corner of U rectangle. Make one.
Stitch units together to form stocking decoration. Make one.
Diagonally stitch F square to top and bottom of N rectangle to make one toe unit.
Diagonally stitch M square to corner of S rectangle then add G square to M square. Make one heal unit.
Now for the best part...stitching all the units together to form the block!!
And we are done with two more blocks! That means only six more to go and we can start putting together the whole quilt. What a great jump start I have on my holiday sewing. I will be back soon with more blocks.
I want to see your blocks so be sure to use the #verysherrichristmas hashtag. Then we can all find and see what you have been working on.
