If you are like me, you have quilts to bind and it makes it so much more fun to have a cute binding kit to carry all your supplies. So when The Fat Quarter Shop asked me to join them in the Goody Goody Binding Bag Sew Along I said yes right away!
This little binding kit is super fun to make and doesn't take much time. All the instructions can be found on the Lella Boutique blog.
I started with picking my fabrics. I used the Farm House collection from Figtree.
I cut out all my pieces and labeled them with the Alphabitties. Love these letters and they sure help me keep my pieces straight.
Then I got to sewing. I started with quilting the outside fabric with batting. I used the squiggly line stitch on my machine and stitched the lines 1 1/2" apart. I really like how it looks.
Trim the batting even with the fabric. Love this fabric!
I assembled the inside pockets. Lella Boutique gives really great step by step instructions for this part and there is a video you can watch also.
Then I made the cute little strawberry for the scissor pocket.
And I stitched the cute little strawberry to the pocket unit.
To finish it all up, layer the pocket unit with the outer quilted fabric and bind. I stitched my binding to the inside first, then folded it back to the outside and top stitched around.
I put in my thread, scissors and needles but I still have to get some treats to fill the treat pocket...it's on my shopping list for the day.
Now fold both sides in and tie...you are ready to bind! And it makes a great hand stitching kit too if you like to do English paper piecing on the go. It's the perfect size kit to put in your purse.
I think I will be making some of these for my quilting buddies for Christmas...it's never to early to start making gifts right!
So cute!
