I finally got a stamp in my passport.....two stamps actually! For as long as I can remember I have wanted to see London and figured I would go "someday". You know how it is...the kids are small and need you....life gets in the way and it's not just a weekend trip. When my husband got cancer a few years ago, I stopped saying "someday" and started planning and saving. (He is doing great and has been cancer free, no worries now.)
So this year on June 8th, we landed in London for our 20th wedding anniversary. To say we were excited is an understatement!
We spent 6 days trying to see as much as possible...London is like Disneyworld for people who like history and I love English history!
We started our first day just walking around London and ended up at Buckingham Palace.
The next day we rode the Underground out to the Waterloo train station where we hopped on the train for Hampton Court...
Paul found a friend but he wouldn't share his beer...
We then spent our days seeing as much as we could....
Kensington Palace~
Windsor Castle....
The Royal Mew's~
The Glass Coach the Lady Diana rode in on the way to her wedding.
The Gold State Coach...used only on VERY important occasions.
We even got to see Trooping the Colour~
More sights of the city~
Tower of London~
We had a great time...there are many more places I want to see and there are a few I want to go back to to see more of....I guess we will have to go back someday.
We then took the Eurostar train, traveling very fast and under the English Channel, to Paris where we spent 4 days trying to see everything in that beautiful city.
The Louve~
Notre Dame~
Paul had to take a picture of me slurpping down my french onion soup in a cute cafe we found.. yummy!
View from the second floor of the Eiffel Tower~
Paul was brave and didn't mind the height...I stayed back and hung on to the railing. I am very scared of heights but I figured that if I ever got to Paris, I had to go up the tower....we didn't got to the third floor...pretty sure I would have passed out up there!
We spend an afternoon at Claude Monet's house in Giverny....the gardens were amazing and it wasn't hard to see where he got his inspiration.
We spend another afternoon at the Palace of Versailles....
And of course no trip to the Louve would be complete without seeing the Mona Lisa~
On our last night in Paris, we went up to Montmarte and had dinner with some of the new friends we met in London...eating french onion soup, beef brourguignon, crusty bread, brie cheese and drinking wonderful red wine. It was the perfect way to finish our trip.
We had a wonderful time, made lots of great memories.....I can't wait to start planning our next trip!
Until next time~ Sherri
Amazing! I am so happy for you. It's so hard to remember we won't be young forever and that life is so fleeting. How wonderful that you took the plunge and actually took something off "the Bucket List". Thanks for sharing your adventure and for the rminder that it's time to get working on that list! B=)

Just wanted to say how great it was for you both to have such a great anniversary trip! I was lucky enough to spend a month in London with my daughter's high school band; then another month doing an 8-country trip . . . if it's possible to spend time in Europe I say "go for it!"
