It's never too early to get a jump start on Holiday sewing and I have put together a quick tutorial for you to join me in making holiday gift bags. I love a gift bag that can be re-used. I'm thinking this little cutie might get kept by me and used for a holiday knitting bag!
Let's get started and you will be done before you know it.
What you need~

Start with sewing together you favorite block from The Winter Wonderland book.
I am going to use the Scotty Dog but you can make ANY of the 12 holiday blocks. They will all fit the bag.
Stitch four of each accent squares together. Make two of these units.
Stitch the main/background rectangles to both sides of your Winter Wonderland block.
Place the rick-rack along the bottom edge of the bag front and stitch an accent row to the bottom/rick-rack edge.
Repeat with the back rectangle.
Add the bag bottom unit to the bottom edge of the bag front and back units. Be sure to center!
Repeat with bag back.
Iron heavy fusible interfacing to wrong side of bag front and back, clipping excess from corners.
Repeat with bag lining rectangles, ironing heavy interfacing to the wrong side and clipping squares from the two bottom corners, using a 2 1/4" square.
Iron light fusible interfacing to wrong side of handle strips.
With wrong sides together, fold long edges of handle to meet in the center.
Fold in half again and press. Stitch along both long sides of handles. Make 2.
Pin handles to front and back of bag units, 5" over from the sides.
With right sides together, stitch the sides and bottom of bag front/back units.
Matching side and bottom seams, sew corners of bag.
Iron Heat & Bond to wrong side of bottom area of both lining units.
With right sides together, stitch sides and bottom of lining units, leaving a 4" opening in the bottom edge of lining unit.
Matching side and bottom seams, sew corners of lining unit.
With bag right side in and lining right side out, place lining unit inside of outside unit and stitch around top edge of bag.
Turn bag right side out through lining hole.
Take paper off fusible web through opening in lining.
Stitch closed (by hand or machine) the opening in lining.
Place iron inside the bag and fuse the bag bottom layers together.
Next steps are optional....here is the bag with out the extra stitching.
And here it is with the extra stitching~
Top stitch around top edge of bag, 1/4" down from edge.
Using a scant 1/8" seam, with bag front and bag side together, stitch down from the top edge down to pieced bottom. (This will help the bag keep shape.)
Repeat with other three corners.
And that's it!
