Spiced Pecans.....

I just couldn't keep this good-find to myself! I am always in search of the next big family favorite/gotta have it cookie or candy recipe. This year while going through the Old-Fashioned Candy cook book that I picked up at the Biltmore Estate a few years ago,

 
I found the recipe for Spiced Pecans. I figured I should try this recipe because it sounded alot like the pecans that my friend and I had when we went to Savannah, Ga this past summer and I loved the spiced pecans they made down there. 

Well, the house smelled fantasitc while the pecans were baking and they are a new big-time favorite! I packaged them up in cute holiday treat baggies that I picked up at Target and have been sharing them with everyone.

Much needed R & R.....

This fall when things were super crazy and I didn't have a spare moment, I thought to myself...how fun would it be to hang out at my good friends house for a long weekend before the holidays got rolling. So I called her up and invited myself down to her house. (She is one of those good friends you can do that with...I'm not usually that forward with people...really only her!) I just wanted to hang out at her house, talking and knitting which was perfect. I actually got a few Christmas gifts done while I was there. I got a hat done for my daughter while on the plane....I think it turned out cute, if I do say so myself!

 

(I will share pictures of the other hats soon but they are gifts so I don't want to spoil the suprise.)

We did take a day and checked out the Ramsey House Plantation.

 

We also went to Marble Springs which is the homestead of the first Govenor of Tennessee, John Seviers.

Both my friend and I love to check out historical places....hoping next year we will be able to go back to the Biltmore Estate to see it decorated for the Holidays!

Always love a good parade.....

So how fun was that.....The Butter Churn Parade on A Quilting Life and Pink Pincushion blogs last week was awesome! I can't pick a favorite....every quilt was wonderful! I sure hope you had a chance to see the parade...if not, jump back over to their blogs and check it out.  Now for those of you who left me a comment during the parade, I know you are waiting to see who won the collection of new patterns. I was suppose to pick a winner on Tuesday and I must apologize for the delay....I was out of town enjoying some R & R with a good friend. (Much needed R & R!)

Butter Churn Parade!

How cool is this! Sherri from A Quilting Life and Sinta from Pink Pincushion are hosting a parade of quilts that have used my Butter Churn pattern.
