Every two years, my friend Beth and I take a vacation together. We both love much of the same things, so we agree that our vacation should be centered around historical places. Two years ago we went to the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. This time we went to Savannah, Ga. What a wonderful city! And the history is incredible too!
Beth lives in Tennessee, so she picked me up at the Atlanta airport and we were off....driving in the pouring rain for a few hours and late at night....slow going but the company was great. We finally stopped to sleep a few hours, got up early the next day and arrived in Savannah ready to spend the day sight-seeing.
I have to say...I love Savannah! The city is beautiful and everywhere you look there is amazing houses, gardens and history. Our first day we toured a few of the houses and walked many of the squares.
Outside the Telfair Academy.
After walking around most of the day, we checked into our hotel....we stayed at the Marshall House. It was as wonderful as the rest of the city and our room was awesome!
Now we headed to the Paula Dean store where I found a few cook books that I just had to have. I seem to buy books when I go on vacation.....I know they are heavy but I love to read and they always seem like the best souvenirs.
Beth fell in LOVE with the Pralines! Now we are on the hunt for a great Praline recipe.....if you have one.....please send it to me!
We also road on the Trolley to see more of the sights when we got tired of walking....more neat houses!
Hope your summer vacations are enjoyable!
P.S. If you have a favorite Praline recipe...please send it to me~yummy!!
