Hello friends and those of you who are new here. I'm so glad you stopped by. I want to thank you for all the nice comments that you have posted this week. I'm hoping you continue to stop by after the hop too! I'd like to tell you a little about myself. My name is Sherri Falls and I am very blessed to be married to my best friend for 18 years. We have three great kids, Ashley (15), Sara (12) and Ryan (9), we also have two english bulldogs and one tree frog. Never a dull moment around here!
I have been sewing since I was very young, and got my own sewing machine for High School graduation. I have been quilting for 15 years and started designing patterns 4 1/2 years ago when I met Eileen Taylor at my mom's quilt shop Heavenly Patchwork . She is the designer of the Holly Taylor fabric for Moda. Eileen asked me to design a pattern for her fabric line and I have been designing for her ever since.
Here the Season's of Migration pattern I did for her newest fabric line for fall called Migration.
Because there are so many things I like to do, I named my company This & That . I really enjoy designing patterns for all the fun pre-cuts that are now in quilt shops. My favorite pre-cut is the charm square pack. Also, I recently started to do some wool and embroidery patterns. This is something I have wanted to do for awhile. Now I must confess, I can draw the patterns, but I am just learning to do the embroidery stitches, so I had Joan stitch the design for me. I did take a primitive stitching class Wednesday night at Rosebud's Cottage . So I will be doing my own stitching soon, (after alot of practice!) but for now I needed a little help.
The pattern I have for you today is a pillow with an embroidered bird called Bird Watching.
Only two stitches were used to do the embroidery on the pillow.
One of the stitches used was the French Knot. To make French Knot, wrap the thread around the needle three times, keeping tension on the wrapped thread, gently pull the needle through the same hole you came up, to the back. The knot should stay close to the fabric, keep nice and tight.
The second stitch used is the Stem stitch. The Stem stitch makes a line that kind of looks like a rope. To make a Stem stitch, bring the needle up slightly next to the pattern line, then down, just over the other side of the pattern line.
I also did an embroidered pillow for my new book Frosted Memories . The book features the new Holly Taylor Christmas fabric called Frosted Memories . Yes, the book and fabric do have the same name.
Hope you enjoy making the Bird Watching pillow...I know I will be practicing my stitches so I can make the pillow for some gifts.
Now for more fun on the Blog Hop....just for stopping by today and leaving a comment, we have two special drawings.
The first drawing is for a set of our 8 newest charm pattern.....
The second drawing will be for the new Frosted Memories book.
So be sure to leave a comment and you could be one of the lucky winners!
Thanks for Hoppin by....Please Hop by again soon!
Also, remember to leave a comment here all of next week and you will be entered in an drawing for a complete set of my new Block of the Month Cobblestone Lane .
Keep on hoppin next week to 5 more great blogs!

What lovely patterns! I think those of us in the US need more good stitchery designers--Australia seems to have a jump on us! And, coincidentally, or maybe in anticipation of a new embroidery trend, my local quilt shop has begun embroidery classes that are taught by my real-life and Blogland friend Gran! What fun this blog hop is! Something new to see and learn at each step along the way!
